Peranakan Tiles (Double)

Inspired by a lovely tiled entrance of a shophouse at Joo Chiat. I came across it while on a walk to search for unique Peranakan motifs in Singapore.

a yin yang symbol featuring two flowers in motion
The original tile design has clusters of 3 flowers in each halves, but we tweaked the design a little to really let the yin yang symbol shine here with each flower representing the two halves. We also tried to mimic the glazed tile look, by adding some “glaze pooling” on the flowers and some shading on the borders. Our take on an interesting peranakan tile design!
Materials: Polymer clay + Surgical stainless steel posts and ends
Earring Measurement: 5,8cm x 2cm
